The Almaty metro consists of one line with 11 stations and a total length of about 14 kilometres. The line runs from the north-east of the city to the south-west — from Raiymbek Batyr station near Raiymbek Avenue to Baurzhan Momyshuly station in the western part of Almaty.
A ride from end to end takes about 24 minutes. Trains run from 06:20 to 00:00 at intervals of 7–8 minutes during rush hour and up to 10–13 minutes at other times. Fares are paid with the Onay transport card — 120 tenge per ride.
All stations have a single platform and no interchanges, so it is impossible to get lost: you simply choose the right direction. Each station is designed in its own style, with national motifs, mosaics and lighting.
